Evidence-informed
Aldermoor Farm is a community where everyone is courageous, aspirational and resilient. We are committed to providing children with quality first-teaching and creating an environment where everyone strives to be the best they can be.
Teaching and Learning at Aldermoor Farm is based upon the latest research evidence. We have adopted Rosenshine’s principles of instruction as the basis for our approach to teaching and learning, supporting our commitment to a shared language. We have a deep understanding of the Simple Model of Memory which supports us to structure our lessons in a way that ensures all children ‘know more and remember more’. We understand that the capacity in our working memory is limited and therefore cognitive overload can occur.
Our approach to teaching and learning
From our understanding of the Simple Model of Memory, we follow an approach that supports the five key areas of learning.
- Securing and maintaining attention
- Optimising communication for new learning
- Driving all children to actively think
- Gathering and giving feedback
- Ensuring opportunities for consolidation.

Our teachers are equipped with key strategies from the Walk Thrus and Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion to ensure learning is active, memorable and embedded.
